ICE stores protester photos in Palantir database
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is reported to be storing photographs of protesters in a database built by Palantir Technologies. The claim has drawn criticism from civil liberties advocates, who warn it chills free speech by treating political demonstrators as enforcement targets, while raising fresh questions about the scope of the agency's surveillance partnerships.
Why now: Concerns about government surveillance of political dissent and the expanding role of private tech firms in immigration enforcement are driving the discussion.
