ICE stores protester photos in Palantir database
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is reportedly collecting photographs of protesters and storing them in a database built by Palantir Technologies. The practice raises questions about surveillance of political dissent and how biometric data gathered at demonstrations may be used beyond immigration enforcement. Civil liberties advocates are expected to challenge the program, while Palantir's expanding role in government data systems draws renewed scrutiny.
Why now: Concerns about government surveillance of protesters and Palantir's growing role in federal data systems are resurfacing.
