Ukraine Struggles Against Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Original: Ukraine Can't Stop Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Russia has upgraded its Iranian-designed Shahed attack drones with jet engines, making them faster and harder for Ukrainian air defenses to intercept. Engineers and defense analysts are weighing in on the technical challenge, noting the higher speed shrinks reaction times and strains existing counter-drone systems, adding to Ukraine's air defense burden.
Why now: The jet-powered upgrade marks a significant escalation in drone warfare that current Ukrainian defenses struggle to counter.
