Ukraine Can't Stop Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Russia has upgraded its Iranian-designed Shahed attack drones with jet engines, and Ukraine is struggling to shoot them down. The Jet Shahed flies faster and at higher altitudes than its propeller-driven predecessor, making it far harder for air defenses and interceptors to catch. The development points to a cheap weapon increasingly outpacing Ukraine's counter-drone capabilities.
Why now: The jet-powered upgrade makes an already cheap and effective Russian weapon harder to defend against, raising concerns about the evolving drone war.
