Ukraine Can't Stop Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Russia is now using a jet-powered version of the Iranian-designed Shahed drone in attacks on Ukraine, and Ukrainian air defenses are struggling to stop it. The upgraded drone flies faster and at higher altitudes than the propeller-driven original, making it much harder to detect and intercept, raising concerns about the growing effectiveness of Russia's cheap long-range strike capability.
Why now: The jet-powered Shahed marks a significant technological escalation that Ukraine's current air defenses cannot reliably counter.
