A campaign group is pushing a petition calling on the UN to block Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE's candidate for Secretary-General, citing allegations that the UAE is implicated in atrocities in Darfur, Sudan. Critics argue her appointment would compromise the UN's credibility amid the ongoing conflict, while the candidacy itself remains part of the formal selection process for the next UN leader.
