Russian Bot Activity Falls 84% After Strikes on Yandex Data Centers
Original: Russian Bot Activity Collapses by 84% After Strikes on Yandex Data Centers
Ukraine's Centre for Countering Disinformation reports that Russian bot activity dropped by roughly 84% following strikes on Yandex data centers. The report, titled 'When Bots Go Silent,' suggests much of the coordinated automated messaging tied to Russian information operations was hosted on that infrastructure. Commenters are debating whether the collapse is proof of bots' dependence on these data centers or a temporary disruption.
Why now: The dramatic statistical link between infrastructure damage and bot activity offers rare visible evidence of how Russian influence operations operate online.
