India take Asian Games cricket gold, Pakistan snub handshakes again
Original: No handshakes yet again as India beats Pakistan to clinch cricket gold at Asian Games
India beat Pakistan to win the cricket gold medal at the Asian Games, but the post-match handshake ritual was again skipped between the two rivals. The continued refusal to exchange handshakes has drawn wide attention, as it extends a recent pattern of on-field friction between the neighbouring countries' teams amid already strained political relations.
Why now: The political rivalry between India and Pakistan makes every cricket meeting and its breakdown in sporting etiquette a major talking point.
