India beat Pakistan to Asian Games cricket gold, no handshakes
Original: No handshakes yet again as India beats Pakistan to clinch cricket gold at Asian Games
India defeated Pakistan in the cricket final at the Asian Games to win the gold medal. The two teams again did not exchange handshakes, continuing a recent pattern of limited contact between the archrivals on the field. The result extends India's dominance over Pakistan in the format and underlines how political and sporting tensions between the neighbours now extend even to post-match courtesies.
Why now: The India-Pakistan rivalry and the breakdown of basic sporting courtesies between the teams are drawing global attention.
