Ethiopia Claims TPLF Backed by Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea
Original: ‘TPLF Backed by Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea’: Ethiopia Claims Foes Target Abiy’s Regime | Firstpost Africa
Ethiopia's government has publicly accused Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea of backing the Tigray People's Liberation Front in a bid to undermine Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's administration. The claim escalates tensions in the Horn of Africa, where relations between Addis Ababa and its neighbours are already strained over the Nile dam dispute and regional rivalries.
Why now: Rising tensions between Ethiopia and its neighbours make allegations of a coordinated anti-Abiy alliance highly newsworthy.
