Ethiopia Claims TPLF Backed by Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea
Original: ‘TPLF Backed by Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea’: Ethiopia Claims Foes Target Abiy’s Regime | Firstpost Africa
Ethiopia's government has publicly accused the Tigray People's Liberation Front of being backed by Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea, framing the claim as a coordinated effort to undermine Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's regime. The allegation, aired on international outlets, points to deepening friction between Addis Ababa and its neighbours over the Horn of Africa, though the countries named have not confirmed any such support.
Why now: Renewed accusations of foreign backing for the TPLF signal escalating regional tensions involving Ethiopia's neighbours.
