Ethiopia Accuses Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea of Backing TPLF
Original: ‘TPLF Backed by Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea’: Ethiopia Claims Foes Target Abiy’s Regime | Firstpost Africa
Ethiopia's government has claimed that the Tigray People's Liberation Front is being backed by Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea, accusing the regional powers of working together against Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government. The allegation, highlighted by Firstpost Africa, points to deepening tensions between Addis Ababa and its neighbours over the Nile, borders and regional influence.
Why now: Rising Ethiopia-Egypt and Ethiopia-Sudan tensions over the Nile dam and regional rivalry are keeping claims of foreign backing for the TPLF in the news.
