Hacker News Users Ask Again for Dark Mode
Original: Ask HN: Dark mode for HN please? (2026)
A user has asked Hacker News to add a dark mode option, reviving a long-running feature request on the site. Hacker News has kept its plain, light-colored interface largely unchanged for years, and requests for a built-in dark theme resurface regularly. Supporters argue it would reduce eye strain, while others note browser extensions and third-party themes already offer workarounds.
Why now: Users continue to push for a long-requested dark theme on Hacker News's famously unchanged interface.
