Hacker News users ask for a dark mode
Original: Ask HN: Dark mode for HN please? (2026)
A user has asked on Hacker News why the site still lacks a dark mode, prompting discussion about the minimalist design that has remained largely unchanged for years. Many readers say they rely on third-party browser extensions or alternate front-ends to get a darker theme, and the thread has become a recurring debate over whether the site should update its classic look.
Why now: Users continue to debate whether Hacker News should add an official dark mode to its famously unchanged interface.
