UK to ban pornography depicting strangulation and incest from November
Original: Pornography showing strangulation and incest to be banned in UK from November
The UK government will make it illegal from November to produce or distribute pornography depicting strangulation or incest. The Guardian reports the change follows years of campaigning by groups who argue such content normalises violence against women. The move updates the Obscene Publications framework and brings online material in line with stricter offline rules.
Why now: A significant change to UK censorship law with immediate effect is being debated online.
