Unmodified Linux amdgpu driver gets running on an iPad
Original: Running the unmodified Linux amdgpu driver on an iPad
An engineer has demonstrated the Linux amdgpu driver — normally written for AMD graphics cards — running unmodified on an iPad. The feat is drawing attention among open-source and hardware enthusiasts, who see it as a striking example of Linux driver portability and of pushing Apple hardware beyond its intended software environment. A related project, LemonSeed Studio, is linked on GitHub.
Why now: Running a desktop GPU driver unmodified on Apple tablet hardware is a surprising technical achievement that appeals to the Linux and open-source community
