YouTuber builds camera to track police vehicles, gets police visit
Original: YouTuber builds 'Flock-like' camera to track police vehicles, gets police visit
A Canadian YouTuber built a camera system similar to Flock safety cameras, but designed to track police vehicles rather than civilians. Officers later visited his home to voice privacy concerns about the project. The episode has drawn attention as an inversion of typical surveillance debates, with many questioning why monitoring police is treated differently from mass tracking of the public.
Why now: It highlights the irony of police raising privacy concerns about being surveilled by the same technology they or similar systems use on the public.
