Wildlife photographers waited over an hour at an African water hole watching a giraffe far in the distance behind bushes. As sunset approached they gave up and drove back to camp, avoiding walking because of possible black rhino encounters. On the way, a curious giraffe unexpectedly appeared and looked at them, capping a patient stakeout with a rewarding close encounter.
