A wildlife watcher waited more than an hour at an African water hole hoping to see giraffes that stayed far away behind bushes. As sunset approached, the visit was abandoned and the drive back to camp began, since walking was risky due to possible black rhino encounters. Just then, a curious giraffe appeared at close range, providing the close-up encounter the long wait had failed to deliver.
