Anti-police slogan ACAB resurfaces amid French protests
Original: acab
The slogan ACAB, short for 'All Cops Are Bastards', is back in the spotlight in France as it appears again at demonstrations. Commentators on RMC criticised the mixing of anti-police slogans, Palestinian flags and other causes, calling it an amalgam. Coverage follows recent tensions, including clashes between youths and police in Brussels and the death of a police officer shot while pursuing a stolen car.
Why now: Renewed use of the slogan at recent protests and police-related violence has pushed it into public debate.
