Micro Center demands ID and no-export pledge for RTX 5090 purchases
Original: Micro Center requires photo ID and signed no-export pledge to buy gaming GPU
Electronics retailer Micro Center is requiring customers buying the Nvidia RTX 5090 gaming GPU to present photo ID and sign a declaration promising the card stays in the US. Buyers must disclose where the card will be installed. The move appears aimed at curbing export of the sought-after, scarce hardware, and is drawing attention from PC enthusiasts.
Why now: The RTX 5090 is scarce and in high demand, so strict new purchase conditions spark debate among gamers and resellers.
