Warp CEO Zach Lloyd Says Software Engineering Is Becoming Factory Engineering
Original: Software Engineering Is Becoming Factory Engineering — Zach Lloyd, Warp
Zach Lloyd, CEO of the AI terminal company Warp, argues that software engineering is turning into 'factory engineering,' where developers increasingly act as supervisors of automated, AI-driven production lines of code rather than writing everything by hand. The framing, delivered in a talk for the AI Engineer audience, has drawn strong engagement as developers debate whether AI coding agents are industrialising the profession and what that means for engineering jobs and skills.
Why now: Developers are actively debating how AI coding agents are reshaping their profession and job prospects.
