The BBC has published a first-person account of someone who spent £30,000 on a degree focused on becoming a social media influencer, explaining the reasoning behind the costly decision. The piece is drawing attention as debate continues over whether universities should teach influencing as a career, and whether such qualifications justify their price at a time when students are questioning the value of expensive degrees.
Why now: The striking cost of the degree and the unusual subject of influencer studies tap into ongoing debates about tuition fees and the value of university education.
