Israel to close Gaza and West Bank crossings ahead of Oct. 7 anniversary
Original: Crossings into West Bank and Gaza to be closed, ahead of Oct. 7 anniversary
Israel will close crossings into the West Bank and Gaza ahead of the first anniversary of the October 7 Hamas-led attack. Closures of this kind are typically imposed as security measures around sensitive dates, restricting Palestinian labourers and others from entering or leaving the territories while authorities brace for possible unrest or attacks.
Why now: The one-year anniversary of the October 7 attack is prompting Israeli security precautions.
