Cardinal Cupich: defending immigrants is an act of worship
Original: Cardinal Cupich: Advocacy for immigrants is an act of worship
Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago said that advocacy for immigrants is an act of worship, framing the defence of migrants as a religious duty rather than a purely political stance. The remark, reported by Vatican News, comes amid ongoing debate in the United States over immigration policy and the Catholic Church's role in protecting migrant communities.
Why now: Immigration remains a contentious political issue in the United States, and a senior cardinal framing migrant advocacy as worship is drawing attention.
