Announcer Makoto Aoi joins Tokyo MX morning show after NTV exit

Original: 青井実

Japanese announcer Makoto Aoi is taking up a new role on the Tokyo MX morning program "5-ji Muchu!". He left Nippon TV following reports of workplace harassment that ended his stint as a news anchor, and coverage described the move as a demotion from a major network. Some commentators argue the position is actually a strong opportunity in the Tokyo broadcasting market rather than a step down.

Why now: His appointment marks a high-profile comeback after harassment allegations forced his departure from Nippon TV, drawing attention to whether he can rebuild his career.
