Two Iranian UN delegation members expelled from US
Original: 2 members of Iranian UN delegation ‘kicked out’ of US, State Department says
The US State Department says it has expelled two members of Iran's delegation to the United Nations from the country. Details about the reasons for the removal and the individuals' identities have not been widely reported. The move comes amid already tense relations between Washington and Tehran, and is likely to draw scrutiny given Iran's diplomatic presence at the UN in New York.
Why now: Expelling diplomats from a UN delegation is a rare and escalatory step in already strained US-Iran relations.
