Calls grow to ditch cars entirely, not just switch to electric
Original: All the more reason to ditch # cars , be they combustion engine or # electric https://www. bbc.com/news/articles/c3y0zx8
A BBC News report arguing that moving away from cars altogether, whether petrol or electric, is necessary for the climate is drawing attention online. Commenters are amplifying the piece with the message that electrifying vehicles alone does not solve emissions, congestion or resource problems, and that cities should instead prioritise public transport, cycling and walking.
Why now: Ongoing debate over whether electric vehicles genuinely address climate and urban problems is prompting people to share arguments for reducing car dependence altogether.
