Flydubai co-pilot was banned by Oman over extremist views
Original: Co-pilot on Flydubai flight was banned from flying by Oman for extremist views
Oman had banned a Flydubai co-pilot from flying on its territory after accusing him of holding extremist views, according to a France24 report. The revelation raises questions about how the pilot continued to fly for the Dubai-based carrier despite the ban, and is prompting scrutiny of vetting and information-sharing between Gulf aviation authorities and airlines.
Why now: New reporting reveals a security and vetting failure in commercial aviation that touches on safety and regional politics.
