Flydubai co-pilot was banned by Oman over extremist views
Original: Co-pilot on Flydubai flight was banned from flying by Oman for extremist views
Oman had barred a co-pilot now flying for Flydubai from entering its airspace or airports because of concerns he held extremist views, according to a France24 report. The disclosure raises questions about how the pilot remained employed by the Dubai-based carrier despite the Omani ban, and aviation regulators and travellers are asking what screening checks were performed.
Why now: The revelation that an airline pilot was flagged for extremist views is raising safety and security concerns in the middle of a busy news cycle.
