Half of UK now wants to rejoin EU, megapoll finds
Original: Half of UK wants to rejoin EU and backing it could drive up Labour vote, megapoll finds
A major new poll reported by The Guardian suggests half of UK voters want to rejoin the European Union, and that backing re-entry could increase support for Labour. The findings are expected to strengthen figures in Downing Street who favour negotiating a return to the EU, though some senior Labour figures remain wary of reopening the Brexit question.
Why now: Fresh polling data challenges assumptions about settled Brexit opinion and has direct implications for Labour's strategy.
