Purdue to place Degas sculptures across its campuses
Original: Purdue to scatter Degas sculptures across campuses
Purdue University is preparing to distribute sculptures by French artist Edgar Degas across its campuses. The plan puts works by one of the most celebrated Impressionist-era artists in everyday campus settings rather than a single museum space. Details on how many pieces are involved and the exact locations have not yet been laid out, but the announcement is drawing attention in Indiana and among art watchers.
Why now: A major university placing famous Degas bronzes across multiple campuses is an unusual and eye-catching art announcement.
