Calls grow to abolish US immigration agency ICE
Original: Abolish ICE
Activists and human rights groups are renewing demands to abolish ICE, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. The campaign, long championed by immigrant rights organisations including Amnesty International USA, argues the agency's detention and deportation practices violate basic rights. The slogan has become a rallying cry in American political debate over immigration enforcement.
Why now: Immigration enforcement remains a flashpoint in US politics, driving renewed abolition campaigning.
