Calls Grow to Abolish ICE
Original: Abolish ICE
Activists and human rights organisations are renewing calls to abolish ICE, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Campaigners argue the agency's enforcement and detention practices violate migrants' rights, and Amnesty International USA is among those amplifying the demand. The slogan has long been a flashpoint in US immigration debates, dividing lawmakers and the public.
Why now: Renewed immigration enforcement controversies in the United States have put the future of ICE back at the centre of public debate.
