EU officials slam Microsoft Teams replacement Element
Original: EU's Microsoft Teams alternative draws bad reviews from officials
The European Commission's in-house chat tool, Element, built as a sovereign alternative to Microsoft Teams, is drawing poor reviews from EU officials who reportedly find it cumbersome and less capable than the US software it replaced. The backlash highlights the EU's struggle to digital-sovereignty ambitions with everyday workplace usability, as staff push back against a mandated switch.
Why now: The EU's push for digital sovereignty is clashing with its own staff's frustration over the replacement tool.
