EU's Microsoft Teams alternative gets poor staff reviews
Original: EU's Microsoft Teams alternative draws bad reviews from officials
The European Commission's in-house chat tool, built as an alternative to Microsoft Teams, is drawing criticism from EU officials who reportedly find it difficult to use. The internally developed messenger, based on the Element platform, was meant to reduce the institution's dependence on US tech firms, but early feedback from staff has been largely negative, according to Politico.
Why now: People are discussing the gap between the EU's digital sovereignty ambitions and the poor user experience of its own software.
