Trump says he 'feels badly' for accused Cornell gang rapists
Original: Trump says ‘I feel badly’ for accused Cornell gang rapists because his nemesis is investigating them
Donald Trump said he 'feels badly' for Cornell students accused of gang rape because the investigation into them is being led by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who prosecuted him for business fraud after his 2020 election loss. Trump framed his sympathy for the accused as a reaction to James's involvement, drawing criticism over his comments about a serious rape case at the Ivy League university.
Why now: Trump's expressed sympathy for rape suspects, driven by his grudge against Letitia James, is striking and politically charged.
