Calls Grow for a Data Center Moratorium

Original: Data center moratorium now

The environmental group Environment America is calling for an immediate moratorium on new data centers, arguing their rapid expansion carries heavy costs for energy grids, water use and emissions. The demand taps into a broader public debate over whether communities should pause approvals while the environmental impact of the AI-driven data center boom is assessed.

Why now: Concern over the environmental footprint of rapidly expanding data centers is driving fresh advocacy for construction bans.
