Trail Blazers broadcaster fired hours after hiring over old posts
Original: Blazers broadcaster fired hours after hiring for racist, sexist posts from teen years - The Athletic
The Portland Trail Blazers parted ways with a newly hired broadcaster just hours after announcing him, after racist and sexist social media posts he wrote as a teenager resurfaced. The rapid reversal has sparked debate over how much weight should be given to offensive comments made years ago and how thoroughly teams vet new hires.
Why now: The unusually fast firing hours after the hiring announcement made the story a talking point.
