Trail Blazers broadcaster fired hours after hiring over old posts
Original: Blazers broadcaster fired hours after hiring for racist, sexist posts from teen years - The Athletic
The Portland Trail Blazers have fired a broadcaster just hours after announcing his hiring, after racist and sexist social media posts he made as a teenager resurfaced online. The Athletic first reported the dismissal. The rapid turnaround has drawn attention to how teams vet hires and how old online conduct can end careers almost instantly.
Why now: The unusual speed of the firing, just hours after the hiring was announced, is drawing wide attention.
