Heat pump dryers absent from a big-box store's shelves
Original: # heatpump dryer shopping, was at Home Despot and ran into a chatty appliance salesman. Zero HP dryers in stock besides
A California shopper looking for a heat pump clothes dryer found none in stock at a Home Depot, apart from washer-dryer combo units. A salesperson said customers simply don't want them, preferring cheaper conventional resistive dryers despite higher running costs. The shopper is frustrated that people complain about energy prices yet keep buying inefficient appliances, and questions why retailers stock so few heat pump options.
Why now: Rising energy prices and efficiency concerns have made appliance choices a recurring consumer debate.
