Audre Lorde's Self-Care Quote Resonates Anew

Original: ❝ Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare. ❞ ― Audre

A widely shared passage from Audre Lorde is circulating again: 'Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.' The line comes from 'A Burst of Light', also known as 'The Cancer Chronicles', which Lorde wrote while dying of breast cancer. Readers are revisiting the quote as a reminder that rest and self-care carry political weight.

Why now: The quote is being recirculated in discussions about health, self-care and political resistance.
