Original: EU fully rejects any ban on diesel, EU spokesperson says
A European Commission spokesperson said the EU fully rejects any ban on diesel, according to Reuters. The statement addresses speculation about diesel restrictions at EU level, stressing that no such prohibition is planned. It comes amid ongoing debate over combustion engine phase-outs, emissions rules and the future of diesel vehicles across European member states.
Why now: Ongoing political debate over emissions rules and the future of combustion engines in Europe makes the EU's position on diesel newsworthy.
