Original: ‘Like caring for a pet’: the app that lets you know if your neighbourhood tree is thirsty
A new app is drawing attention for letting users check whether street trees in their neighbourhood need watering, an approach its users describe as feeling 'like caring for a pet'. The tool aims to help residents keep urban trees healthy during dry spells by flagging when a tree is thirsty, encouraging local people to take a hands-on role in city greening efforts.
Why now: Interest in urban greening and community-led climate adaptation is growing, and the app offers a simple way for residents to help.
