New app tells you when your neighbourhood tree needs water
Original: ‘Like caring for a pet’: the app that lets you know if your neighbourhood tree is thirsty
A new app has launched that lets users check whether trees in their neighbourhood need watering, with one user describing the routine as being 'like caring for a pet'. The tool encourages city residents to monitor and care for street trees, particularly during hot, dry weather when young urban trees are most at risk of dying.
Why now: Interest in urban tree care is growing as heatwaves put city trees under stress and residents look for simple ways to help.
