Sidewalk find sparks bike bell restoration project
Original: found this today! on a sidewalk. i like the old-fashioned noise. kinda want to make it better? at least a little? i hate
A cyclist found an old-fashioned bicycle bell lying on a sidewalk and is considering fixing it up. They like its classic ringing sound but dislike the handlebar mounting bracket, initially suspecting it is bolted on with the same bolt as the bell itself before correcting themselves. The small restoration question is drawing friendly interest from others who enjoy tinkering with vintage bike parts.
Why now: People enjoy low-stakes salvage and repair stories about vintage bike accessories.

- found this today! on a sidewalk. i like the old-fashioned noise. kinda want to make it better? at least a little? i hate the handlebar attachment, it's garbage. I _think_ the handlebar attachment is bolted on with the same bolt as the bell itself. But I don't know. [eta: no!… · moira@mastodon.murkworks.net · 15
