Less than 1% of GOP midterm ads mention Trump

Original: Less than 1% of GOP midterm ads mention Trump: What's really going on

An analysis found that fewer than 1% of Republican campaign ads for the midterm elections mention Donald Trump, a striking departure for a party that has largely aligned itself with him. Observers are debating what the avoidance signals: whether candidates are distancing themselves from the former president, believe he is a liability with swing voters, or simply see other issues as more effective.

Why now: The near-total absence of Trump in GOP midterm advertising is seen as a telling sign about his standing within the party heading into the elections.
