Cricket's crackdown on 'bunny-hop' catches sparks criticism
Original: Cricket is cracking down on ‘bunny-hop’ catches. It’s a nonsense that penalises brilliance
Cricket authorities are moving to penalise so-called 'bunny-hop' catches, where fielders jump off the ground near the boundary before completing a catch. Commentators have criticised the crackdown, arguing it punishes spectacular athleticism rather than protecting the sport's integrity, and the debate is dividing fans and former players over where the boundary rules should realistically end.
Why now: A recent rule change on boundary catches is being widely debated for penalising impressive fielding.
