An Iranian-born UK national has been arrested under the Terrorism Act in connection with an incident at RAF Fairford, according to a Guardian report dated 1 October 2026. The arrest is drawing attention because of the site's role as a US air base and the charged political climate around UK counter-terrorism policing, with commentators questioning the framing of the case.
Why now: The arrest at a sensitive US-UK military base, combined with references to Palestine Action, has made the alleged terrorism framing controversial.
