El Paso and Rio Grande Valley residents say ICE tactics have gone too far
Original: El Paso, Rio Grande Valley residents say ICE tactics have gone too far, poll finds
A new poll of residents in El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley finds that a majority believe US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has gone too far in its enforcement tactics. The results stand out because both border regions have long been at the center of US immigration debates, and they suggest frustration with enforcement methods even in communities that live closest to the border.
Why now: Immigration enforcement remains a contentious national issue and the poll shows opposition to ICE tactics even in border communities.
